Schools
You can start with showing a video in Assembly in Fairtrade Fortnight, use Fairtrade resources in various areas of the curriculum and go all the way to becoming Fairtrade School.
Encourage your school to teach and learn about Fairtrade
Encourage schools to teach and learn about Fairtrade and the climate crisis and how it affects farmers in different parts of the world. Farmers in the global south have contributed the least to the climate crisis but are already feeling the impacts the hardest. Young people can explore how better incomes, earned through Fairtrade, can help farmers to cope with these challenges. Through assemblies, lesson plans and activities, young people have the opportunity to discover how their choices can impact people around the world, but also the planet that we live on.
There are lots of resources for all age groups, geared to various areas of the curriculum ( e.g. – Geography, Economics, Citizenship and PSHE) and themes such as where our food comes as well as the climate crisis. Resources include lesson plans, videos. Visit the Fairtrade Foundation’s schools website. GFA also has locally produced resources you can use: see Resources
